Ben Quirk
I have been in the Stata industry for 11 years and continue to find the industry both interesting and rewarding. During my time in the industry, I have gained experience managing various types of strata properties in the Melbourne area. These include residential, commercial, and mixed use which incorporate a variety of apartment complexes, townhouses, offices, factory units, shopping centres, estates and retirement villages. I have also managed company title properties, stratum title properties along with strata title properties. Recently, I have been the Manager of several large, high-end developments in metropolitan Melbourne. Throughout the last 7 years, I have worked with my employers to assist with the training and development of other Strata Managers and support staff. I get a real buzz from mentoring fellow team members and assisting in their growth in the industry. I have developed strong professional relationships with consultants and contractors that has helped in the design and implementation of training for industry specific topics i.e. Legal and various Acts, Essential Services, Plan of Sub and Surveying, cladding assessment/removal and funding, project management, EV Charging and many more. I have also developed and facilitated my own internal training sessions for staff on various topics. Recently I was involved in a Mentorship program run by Mentorloop working with another Strata Manager in Adelaide, which I found hugely rewarding. Providing assistance and to be a sounding board for up and coming Strata Managers that are still learning and developing their skills in the industry is my passion. I experience a sense of achievement and satisfaction when other Strata Managers outside my company, Building Managers and staff want to discuss a topic or obtain my advice on a situation they are currently managing. I continue to focus on attending online and face to face training, reading industry and relevant legal updates, keeping up to update with case law and attending seminars and forums to continue to develop my own industry knowledge and to provide me with the tools to continue my training and development role in my current company. Experience has been gained from my involvement in a number of large and complex projects over my years in the industry. Some of these include complex defect legal cases, cladding replacement projects, mediation and termination on contracts with various service providers, project management of various upgrades of key building services and infrastructure i.e., lifts, access control, security, Essential Services, hydraulics, electrical and formwork and concrete/brickwork replacement.
